'2006 Jiaxing Xiuzhou Economic and Trade Fair is to be held.

Unique location and convenient traffic networks provide comprehensive
economic hinterland and profound industrial supports for the
development of Xiuzhou District. Xiuzhou is located in Yangtze
Delta, at the center of an embrace formed by Shanghai, Suzhou,
Hangzhou, Ningbo and other cities, which is the most energetic
development region and has the supreme potentiality for development.
It¡¯s one of the central urban areas of Jiaxing City, the important
satellite city to the south of Shanghai. The district has a
total area of 542 square kilometers and population of 380,000.
Xiuzhou enjoys convenient traffic, forming an expressway network
around Xiuzhou with ¡°three breadthways, three lengthways, three
bridges¡±, including Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway, Zhapu-Jiaxing-Suzhou
Expressway, and Shanghai-Jiaxing-Huzhou Expressway, Pudong-Jiaxing-Hangzhou
Expressway, Jiaxing-Hangzhou Bay Transoceanic Bridge-Ningbo
Expressway, Jiaxing-Xiaoshan Transoceanic Bridge Expressway
and Jiaxing-Shaoxing Transoceanic Bridge Expressway; Shanghai-Hangzhou
Double Track Railway, No. 320 National Highway and the Beijing-Hangzhou
Grand Canal run through the district. Hangzhou¡¯s Xiaoshan International
Airport, Shanghai¡¯s Hongqiao Airport and the Pudong International
Airport are within only one hour¡¯s drive. With the southeast
forward move of international harbor in Shanghai and the construction
of Dayangshan and Xiaoyangshan International Deep-water Ports,
as well as the extension of Ningbo Port in Zhejiang to Zhoushan
Islands, the advantage of Xiuzhou as a gateway will become more
prominent in the future. Xiuzhou is located at the inter-junction
of ¡°Shanghai 100-Kilometer Economic Circle, Hangzhou Bay Economic
Circle and Economic Circle at Taihu Lake Rim. It not only enjoys
the advantages of industrial divisions and supports in Southern
Jiangsu Province and Northern Zhejiang Province but also the
benefits from Shanghai as an international metropolis, which
is the center of economy, finance, trade and ocean transportation.
This advantage will be more prominent once the planned inter-city
track is opened to traffic.
First-class infrastructure construction
provides reliable supporting platform and lowers the investment
cost for the development of Xiuzhou District.A density of high
grade highways, averaging 1 kilometer per square kilometer,
ensures access to expressways within 10 minutes¡¯ drive by the
enterprises in the industrial zones and various industrial functional
zones. 14 power substations have been set up in Xiuzhou District,
forming a transmission and distribution structure with a main
net of 220 kv and 110 kv and a supporting network of 35kv and
10kv. With the initiation of operation of the Phase II Qinshan
Nuclear Power Station as well as the network operation of the
2 generators in Jiaxing Power Plant
and Jiaxing Golden Concord Thermal Heat Powerful Plant, Jiaxing
enterprises¡¯ power supply can be ensured. Modern waterworks
in the district are able to supply 300,000 tons of water per
day, adequate for industrial production and domestic usage.
The reality of centralized supply of industrial water and heating
steam, and connecting the centralized sewage disposal project
with the urban sewage treatment system in Jiaxing, give convenience
for enterprises to reduce their operation costs. There are all
kinds of modern facilities in the district such as international
and national programmed control telephones, graphic and text
faxes, cell phone communication and electronic network etc.
Scientific regional and industrial development
planning provides a high bearing capacity and broad expansion
space for the development of Xiuzhou District. Xiuzhou carries
out the regional and industrial development planning of urban-rural
integration. With the construction of urban style agriculture
as its target in agriculture, Xiuzhou is exerting to create
the ¡°three bases and one platform¡±, that is, the production
base for green farm produce, processing base for high quality
farm produce, tourist resort for citizens from cities and countryside
and an exhibiting platform for new and high quality farm produces.
The target of Xiuzhou industry is to create the characteristic
Xiuzhou manufacturing zone as it perfects the general layout
of ¡°one district and four belts¡±, further strengthens modern
textile industry, introduces and fosters industries of household
appliances, machinery manufacturing and electronic information
and rigorously develops other new industries. The target for
the tertiary industry in Xiuzhou District is to build Xiuzhou
into a modern commercial and distribution center, complete the
construction of ¡°one center and three markets" , that is,
the Commerce & Trade Center in Xiuzhou New Area, Jiaxing
?China Silk Textile Commerce and Trade Center (market) , Honghe
Woolen Sweater Market and the central service market along the
Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway. Meanwhile, three residential projects,
namely, top-grade residential quarters for foreign entrepreneurs,
apartment buildings for talents and apartment buildings for
employees, are to be initiated.
Favorable urban supporting facilities
provide sufficient resources of culture, education, science,
technology, human resources as well as living resources for
the development of Xiuzhou District. There are libraries, a
museum, a mass¡¯s art hall, grand theaters, gymnasiums, movie
theaters and other cultural facilities in Jiaxing City which
has greatly enriched the spare time activities of the residents
and enterprise employees. 5 universities and colleges, a number
of professional and technological colleges and Jiaxing training
bases affiliated with various Shanghai and Hangzhou universities
and colleges have formed an education and talents supporting
system with complete system and high grade quality. With over
20 professional scientific institutes such as Zhejiang Yangtze
Delta Research Institutes of Tsinghua University, Jiaxing Application
Technology Transforming Center of CAS, technical supports for
the development of Xiuzhou has been ensured. Nearly 50 high-class
middle schools and elementary schools, as well as kindergartens
distributed in each community provide perfect schooling for
the children in urban district. In Xiuzhou¡¯s urban district,
there are two five-star hotels and 4 four-star hotels. In addition,
one five-star hotel, namely Xinzhou International Hotel, is
under construction. Four conventional hospitals and various
recreation centers and facilities around the city are providing
great convenience to the residents. In order to improve and
prefect the functions of the city, the government of Xiuzhou
District has also started the series of practical projects to
build urban communities integrating the comprehensive services
such as commerce, trade, consultation, medical and healthy treatment,
employment training, cultural education, sports, recreation
and security etc.

of Xiuzhou is highly effective, including customs, import &
export transportation, import and export inspection and quarantine,

and placing importance on the creation of a peaceful and auspicious
social environment. Giving prominence to the construction of
¡°an Ecological Xiuzhou¡± and placing importance to the creation
of a clean, beautiful and comfortable production and living
environment.
Definite strategic orientation provides
the bright developing trend and prominent competitive advantages
for the development of Xiuzhou District. Xiuzhou will continuously
center on the three major strategic orientations: strengthening
the area with advanced industries, upgrading the area with open
environment and rejuvenating the area with science and education
so as to create an advanced manufacturing and industrial zone
in the Yangtze Delta, a leading tertiary industrial zone with
